The Channeled Paths internship program  is a twelve month program.  Psychotherapy interns will provide counseling to enrolled youth, primarily through group sessions and planned group activities and  through individual or child-parent sessions.  Psychotherapy interns are selected by Channeled Paths’ co-founders and executive directors, Cheryl Carswell and Phillip Stockard based off of preset criteria: academic performance, personal reference, and interview.  Additionally, a cleared drug test and background check is required. These interns are typically in their Masters Level Degree or having completed their degree and working toward required supervision hours.

To enhance quality control, monitor progress of interns and enrolled students, and track the effectiveness of the program, a tiered structure is employed.  Executive Directors Cheryl Carswell and Phillip Stockard act as mentors to participating interns, each overseeing six interns that comprise a “team”.  As mentors they communicate regularly through email or telephoned conversations with their assigned interns, and meeting with their group of interns once a week for discussion.  The interns that comprise the group of six are required to meet bi weekly to discuss casework and employ peer review to best assist enrolled youth.  Interns document the progress of their clients and mentors document the progress of their interns.  Twice a month, interns are required to participate in professional development sessions led by the executive directors and/or guest speakers.
If you have completed your Masters Degree in Counseling and Psychology and need supervision hours for licensure, give us a call or submit the contact us form.
